The Israeli Lions is a part of an international social-volunteering organization, acting for the week link in the chain. The source of the name is the initials of the words: Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nations Safety - Lions. Among the Goals of the Lions organization are: To put on a pedestal the elements of a proper administration and good citizenship. To take an active part in the life of the community and to help the needy. To unit the members in the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding. To develop the spirit of volunteering for no reward and as a donation to the community. The Lions has signed on its banner the slogan “We Serve”, while the goals of the organization serve as milestones for the activity of the members. The areas of activities focus on local, national and international activities. The clubs are spread all over the country, from Beit-J’an in the north to Arad in the south. The Lions clubs apply the goals of the organization in coordination with the needs of the community in which they operate: by helping the blinds, supporting day-care centers, purchasing medical equipment for hospitals, activities for the welfare of the community, honoring people of the year in volunteering for those who are not Lions members, presenting token of appreciation in the fields of security, society, culture and economics. The clubs also have diverse social activities: lectures, parties, joint weekends, as a way to increase voluntary activities. In addition to the local activities, there are also national activities, such as: acquiring a blood-mobile for blood donations for M.D.A. (Israeli immediate medical aid), fighting road accidents, helping needy soldiers, forming a mediation college in Hod-Hasaron and Beer-Sheva and more. The international activities of the Israeli Lions: Youth Exchange, twinning system between Israeli Lions clubs and clubs overseas, collecting glasses, personal connection to special activities which require help overseas, participating in the Lion world conventions, Europe Forum and the Mediterranean Forum.
